A book and a nap and the will to fight…

One common escape from her life and kind of a necessity to her existence was reading, and today was no exception. She had decided to pick up Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol as she knew it would draw her in and keep her mind off of her own drama. She could only dream to be as good a story teller some day and she read not only soaking up the story itself, but imagined how it was constructed and researched and marvelled in it’s complexity. Someday she thought…

Her eyes grew tired and she considered napping, because sleeping was even better than reading. There would be no more sulking today. She was ready to fight…but first a nap. A nice long nap…

The sting of snow and ice…

The snow fell like salt on a wound, and she gasped a bit from the psychological pain manifesting into physical as she stared like a child mesmerized by a snow-globe. Her lungs were tightening up again, her chest began to feel the wrong size to contain the organs within and if she had a heart left after all that she’d been through, she didn’t believe it was beating regularly. But she couldn’t take her eyes off it. The snow continued to fall and sting  and something was building within that could only be described as a mixture of anger and sorrow and self hatred.

Hold The Ice

When music says it all…

This song…it speaks to her …imagine living a life of being high…not necessarily drugs mind you…but having to be pulled back to earth and…not wanting to come down…not wanting to be brought back down because that might mean sinking too far down…

Gravity

Uh oh…not again…

She stared out the window at the gray sky and thought it was fitting.  All she needed now was the perfect background music to give that dramatic touch to her misery.  She selected something from her mp3 player (Torchwood [Original Soundtrack Recording]) and let the music wash over her.  Her lungs tightened a bit as each note played, her eyes welled as the sadness of the music itself affected her…she could feel the sorrow, the passion and the tremendous power as she separated each individual instrument out in her head, then let them fade back together to become one. She wondered if the composer had any idea what raw emotion he would bring forth in those who listened to his music.  But even as she took a small journey “somewhere else” riding along with the melody, her own sorrow built in her chest.  Her breathing grew more difficult when she realized it wasn’t just the music that was clamping down on her chest.  It was that she had a reality to face.  She was addicted again.

Being the completely stubborn person that she is, she refused to believe that every addiction required a complete abstinence from whatever one was addicted to. Some, like drugs and alcohol, needed to be avoided completely.  But people had food addictions and one could not be expected to avoid food the rest of their lives.  Moderation, however, was not something she was good at.  Now what?????

Moderation…

Moderation: the quality of being moderate; restraint; avoidance of extremes or excesses; temperance.

Just because…

Just because your haven’t heard from a friend or two recently doesn’t mean they intentionally are ignoring you.  They could be headfirst in a snowbank…

Looking a little empty…

ahhhhh…a blank slate…if only we could start our lives over like this? Face it, we’d step in the same shit again. I’m really starting to believe that no matter what decisions you make in life, that sidewalk you walk down is there, no matter which path you take. You know, the one with the dog dropping you don’t notice until you feel your shoe slip a little. Doesn’t matter if you turn right or left, it will be there. And it will be there over and over again until you learn how to get it off your shoe with grace. Or at the very least, watch where you are going so you don’t step in it in the first place.
So I begin this endeavor with thoughts of karma, poop and probably a need for therapy.
