Some assembly required

Some assembly required, all tools included. Okay. Simple enough. It was an office chair. She’d assembled plenty of office chairs previously when helping out a fledgling vocational school get set up. No problem. Allen wrenches. All nicely packaged. Each set of screws nicely pouched and identified. Each part nicely labeled and color coded. This was going to be a piece of cake. No problems. She spoke the words out loud. Big mistake. Big BIG mistake.
All went together beautifully until the last four screws, which held the back on, of course. They left out the part where they didn’t include the man with strength and torque in his hands of a zillion pounds. There was no way she was going to get those in there. She never should have said how well things were going. She never should have said out loud how beautifully written the instructions were.
She got out her power drill and accessories, but to her dismay, she hadn’t gotten around to buying the allen wrench set to go with it. “Damn!” she thought. She was looking forward to using a power tool. A trip to the nearest home improvement store was in order. Now she was miffed. Her beautiful chair which smelled like a new car was lying like a dead bug upside down and now she had to go out again. Hadn’t she asked someone for the allen wrench set for Christmas? Why don’t they take her tool fetish seriously? Ah well…it’s a beautiful day. And she didn’t mind so much going out. Who knows, maybe she’d find some other nifty tool while she was there.
